Questions most frequently asked by our guests. . .

Do you have pets?
A shy truffle hunting dog named Augie who is usually off “hunting” and a kind friendly, yellow-tabby named Harley who usually joins our guests poolside in the warm summer afternoons. Both animals reside in the owners quarters and very occasionally may be seen on the first floor only.

Is the Gaslight Inn a kid-friendly bed and breakfast?

We love kids, however, due to the extensive art collection, unsupervised pool and koi pond, the Gaslight Inn is an ADULT-ONLY facility.

Is smoking allowed?
We strictly enforce a policy of NO SMOKING. Our smokers find it easy to step out front when smoking is necessary.

What time is check-in? What are your hours for arrival?
Our check-in time is between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time. If you’ll be arriving earlier or later than those hours, please contact us by telephone or email to let us know. If you do not arrive at the time we expect you, there will always be a note on the door giving you the telephone number of the staff on duty and the instructions you need. We greatly appreciate our guests filling in their estimated arrival time upon making their reservation!

Where are you located? How far are you from downtown, from the airport?
We are conveniently located on Capitol Hill, Seattle’s most exciting neighborhood, that also happens to be right at the heart of the city — it’s walking distance to/from downtown. The Gaslight is situated up on 15th Avenue between Howell Street and Olive Street. Because Capitol Hill’s Link Light Rail station is located only a few blocks away from us (near the corner of Denny and Broadway), the SEA-TAC airport, the downtown/Westlake Center area, and many other neighborhoods are all just a short train-ride away! You can also walk or take the #10 or #11 Metro bus downtown, or the #8 bus will take you to Seattle Center and the Space Needle.

Do any of your rooms have two beds?
None of our rooms have two beds, and we do not have or allow any rollaway beds or inflatable mattresses. Most of our rooms have firm queen mattresses and accommodate two guests, while rooms 101 and 107 have double size mattresses and accommodate one guest only.

What do you serve for breakfast?
Our continental breakfast features coffee, tea, juice, several kinds of fresh fruit (local when available), yogurt, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, croissants and other breads.

When is your pool available?
Our pool area is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and is heated to between 78 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The pool as well as the decks, garden and all the common spaces are for our registered guests only, since we are a private residence with small intimate spaces.

When do you change the room linens?
Naturally, you check in and find fresh, clean room linens. As part of an ongoing, regional effort to conserve water, we change the linens every fourth morning on stays of 5 nights or longer.

Is there a place to park?
We have parking passes that allow for 24-hour street parking in our neighborhood, that are available on a limited basis. The city has zoned parking, so if you need parking beyond the two-hour minimum please ask us for a pass. There are also a few Diamond parking lots nearby (one on 13th between Howell and Denny, and the other near the corner of 14th and Olive). We recommend avoiding car transportation entirely during your visit to Seattle, as it can often detract from your relaxation and enjoyment of the Emerald City.

Do you ever do parties, receptions, or small gatherings?
No, sorry we don’t. The Gaslight Inn is a small, intimate space for use by our guests.

Can you recommend fun excursions we might take while in the area?
While visiting the Evergreen State, your plans really should include a visit to the beautiful San Juan Islands. It is just a 2-hour drive plus a 45 minute ferry ride to whole different world and our new intimate & private getaway. Nestled in the woods on Lopez Island is the Nowak House. This cozy treasure would be all yours: truly a relaxing, quality escape to enjoy. The Nowak House is situated at the South end of Lopez Island, where you can savor a sweeping view to MacKaye Harbor. The short trip from Seattle is perfect for putting you into the “island” frame of mind. Click here for more information as well as other great places to stay in the Pacific Northwest.

Rooms 103, 104, 105, 107, and 108 have air-conditioning, while rooms 101, 102, and 106 do not. As you can imagine they did not have air-conditioning at the time this home was constructed, however we have made every effort to provide AC wherever possible. We have fans available for rooms that do not have air-conditioning.
